General Information
Attracting and retaining a qualified work force is a growing concern that cuts across all professions. The professions available to women in commercial real estate provide meaningful career choices with good salaries and benefits. Traditionally, women have not chosen commercial real estate professions because of the lack of solid role models, the scarcity of information and support to enter this field. In the next decade, women need to see commercial real estate careers as a viable choice, and their talent, leadership, and unique skill sets will transform these previously male-dominated professions in a way that helps advance the industry. Available role models and access to mentoring are important contributing factors that influence a student’s decision to pursue a career in any profession.

Thanks, to Opus Foundation and James E Gibbons Educational Development Trust Fund, CREW Foundation has developed an eMentoring curriculum to train successful commercial real estate professionals to provide mentoring support to students, entry level professionals, seasoned professionals making career changes, or those struggling to advance within her industry. The eMentoring Program provides positive, one-on-one technology-based mentoring services to highly motivated protégés.

Our goal is to further the progress of women underrepresented in commercial real estate through a dynamic, technology-supported mentoring network.  Building upon the success of CREW Careers™ and utilizing eMentors, the eMentoring Model will:

  • Give students a glimpse of the profession from the perspective of a practitioner;
  • Provide knowledge, experience, and possible opportunities for students to observe (job shadow) an average day in the life of a commercial real estate professional;
  • Provide referrals to relevant community/school resources to enhance their interest in specific commercial real estate fields;
  • Increase awareness of the profession and influence the quality and diversity of the applicant pool for commercial real estate companies.
